Knitted, Felted, Jointed Teddy Bear
Photo of BBE01 - Knitted, Felted, Jointed Teddy Bear
Larger Image
For the first critter in our line of Bear Brain knitted
designs, we wanted to create a bear with personality
and definition who just happened to be knitted.
He (or she) is knitted with Kid-n-ewe worsted
weight yarn and will be 10-12 inches tall after
felting. The damp felt allows you to mold the paws
and face into a variety of poses and expressions.
Finishing touches of soft sculpting and embroidery
give our bear his true personality.

Knitted, Felted, Jointed Rabbit
This knitted, felted, jointed bunny has personality plus
with his long floppy ears and big oversized feet. He is
knitted with Kid-n-ewe worsted weight yarn, which felts
extremely well.  After felting, the bunny will be 10-12
inches tall, not counting his ears.  Knitting and felting
are easy and fun to do. The flexibility of the damp felt
enables you to mold your rabbit into a variety of
positions. He has a big pom pom for a tail and an
embroidered nose and mouth.
What a cutie!

Whidbey, The Knitted Bear
Whidbey is the most “bearable” of our critters.  He is
knitted with Berroco Chinchilla worsted weight yarn.
This pattern is great for experimenting with other textured
yarns to achieve different fuzzy looks. Whidbey will be
10-12 inches tall when finished. His paws are jointed and
he has a big felt nose. A bit of soft sculpting and
embroidery add to Whidbey’s charm.

Rhodie, The Knitted Rabbit
Rhodie the Rabbit (Whidbey bear's best buddy) is
knitted with Berroco Chinchilla worsted weight yarn.
We recommend experimenting with some of the textured
yarns available to give your bunny a fuzzy look. Rhodie is
10-12 inches tall (not including his ears).  His paws are
jointed, and he has a big pom pom tail.  Soft sculpting
and embroidery give Rhodie his playful expression.

Casey, The Knitted Cat
Casey is knitted in intarsia with Kid-n-ewe worsted
weight yarn. He is always ready to party, since he’s wearing
his fuzzy tux. When finished, he will be 10-12 inches tall.
His paws are jointed and his tail is wired for posing.
Soft sculpting and embroidery are used to define facial
features and add realism.

Julius, the Knitted Tabby Cat
Julius is our second cat pattern, and was designed based on
one of our favorite “real” furry felines. He is knitted in intarsia
with Kid-n-ewe worsted weight yarn.  When finished, he will
be 10-12 inches tall. His paws are jointed and his tail is wired
for posing.  Soft sculpting and embroidery are used to define
the facial features.

"Catnip Dreams" - Knitted, Felted Kitty Toys
For those of us who are cat lovers, this is a great way to
use up odds and ends of wool yarn. These toys are quick
and easy to knit. This pattern contains five knitted, felted
cat toys: a mouse, a large ball, a small ball, a "squiggle"
and a fish. Put the finished toys in a nylon stocking,
then into a bag full of catnip and leave them to
"charge up" overnight. This works GREAT and
all our fuzzy friends go "bonkers" over them!

Beezley Bear and Sweater
Beezley is a chubby fellow that is knitted and felted.
Mini Beezley measures 6" and large Beezley measures
8" after felting and assembling. His cardigan sweater is
knitted in one piece from the top down. You can also
just knit Beezley if you are not keen on felting.
We recommend using a fingering weight yarn for mini
Beezley and a worsted weight yarn for the larger bear.
If you'd like to be adventurous and try a textured yarn,
Berroco Chinchilla or Katia Harmony are among
the yarns that we have test knitted for Beezley.

"Stitched With Love"
As seen in Family Circle Easy Knitting Fall 2000

2 cuddler blanket patterns - one for a boy and one for a girl.
Both blanket patterns feature 5 different boy or girl face designs with an
assortment of embellishment techniques. Log cabin squares are interspersed
with each face design. Washable worsted weight yarns were used to knit each
blanket. Both of these projects are a great way to use up scraps of yarn from
your stash. We encourage you to experiment with your own yarns and color
combinations. The directions are clearly written with thorough knitting
instructions for all squares, embellishments, illustrations for embroidering
and crocheting the finishing touches and assembling all pieces.

Best Friend Bear and Sweater
These two bear buddies are the best of friends and
ready to go adventuring at anytime! The bears are
knitted flat from head to toe, all in one piece, except
for the arms. When finished, they will measure about
15” tall. The sweaters are knitted in one piece from
the neck down. The star version features garter
ridges, diagonal seed stitch, and a duplicate stitch
star. The striped version has rolled cuffs and hem.
We used worsted weight yarns in both wool
and acrylic.

(Formerly BBE01)
Bear Pillow, Crib Blanket, or Afghan
This pattern contains 3 fun projects in one. Continuing with
our critter motif, this is the first in a series of patterns that
combine knitting, crocheting, embroidery, and applique to
make a “3D” pillow, blanket, or afghan.  The picture shows
a finished pillow front containing a polar bear, brown bear,
panda bear, and paw print square.  We used washable-worsted
weight yarns in our example. Each 8-inch bear square is
knitted in intarsia. All other facial features and accessories
are knitted, then appliqued or embroidered onto the
bear squares.

Basic Sweater

This pattern is an easy to knit long-sleeved sweater.
The sweater has been knitted out of Kid-n-ewe worsted
weight yarn.  It can be knit in a solid color, or follow the
enclosed graph to knit in an intarsia teddy bear face.
We especially enjoy this sweater as it is knit from the
top down, in one piece.

Garter Stitch Hat & Scarf
You will find this is a “beary” quick and easy pattern
to knit.  The hat and scarf were knitted using Kid-n-ewe
worsted weight yarn. The hat has holes knitted into it to
allow for the critters ears to poke through.  We added
in a matching color mohair yarn when knitting the hat
brim to add a more “fuzzy” appeal.

Basic Vest
Yet another easy clothing pattern to knit for your favorite
critter. This 2- button vest was knitted using Froehlich Die
tolle Wolle, a variegated worsted weight yarn.  You may
want to experiment with a solid color vest, then crochet
a narrow border around it using a complimentary color.
Time to use your fuzzy imagination!
